A Preview of the NBA Western Conference Finals

May 19, 2015 - by Frederick H.
NBA Western Conference Finals 2015

Let the big game begin!

Although it’s their first trip back to the Western Conference Finals in 18 years, Houston made their presence known. James Harden led with 31 points while Dwight Howard had double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds. Against a LA Clippers team, expected to win the series, the Rockets won three straight games making U.S gambling news.

The Golden State Warriors have had a terrific season and strolled into the playoffs until they faced the Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference Semifinals. Falling in game two, the warriors saw themselves tied at 1-1 going into the third game; which they lost again. Golden State returned to their “kick ass mode” and won the last three games.

It’s difficult to overlook the feat that the Rockets pulled off. To lose three straight games, with the third in horrendous fashion, and be able to turn it around 15 minutes left while down by 19 in the next game. Coach Kevin McHale said that “It just tells us we are capable of winning three games in a row.” In a seven game series, it’s a crucial skill to win at least one game or maybe two away from home.

MVP runner up Harden spoke of their comeback. “It’s easy to get down 19 on the road and then just give in and say ‘maybe next year’, but I think the injuries throughout the entire year, it’s kind of made us fight through adversity no matter what. So we’ve always been down a man. It’s always finding a way to get through, finding a way to fight it.” There’s no better way to prove that than with a 40-15 run at the end of game.

Although Harden has averaged 26.3 points throughout the playoffs, he can be slowed down by Draymond Green of the Warriors. Josh Smith may have to step in and use his size to make plays on offense. With point guard Patrick Beverly out because of injury, Trevor Ariza will have a job guarding Curry for seven games. Waging on individual player performance, within the rules of U.S gambling laws, might be more entertaining than laying your money on the overall win.

sports.yahoo.com: BDL’s 2014-15 NBA Playoff Previews: Golden State Warriors vs. Houston

The ultimate question concerning the Houston Rockets is whether or not they can maintain the mindset they had leaving game seven of their series with LA. Golden State was considered the best team in the league going into the playoffs. They’ve done almost everything they’re expected to do. The Rockets were on fire. Let’s hope it doesn’t get smothered before tonight.

Golden State Warriors are a fast paced team typical of the west coast. Of course they will face an equally quick Houston team. Stephen Curry is able to win the MVP award in front of Harden, but it was well earned by giving it 110% every night. It also helped that Curry had a healthy team unlike Harden who had to make up for Howard and most of team at one point or another.

Golden State Warriors, equipped with two gunmen like Curry and Klay Thomspon, shoot the ball often. The Memphis Grizzlies were able to neutralize a bit of that though with their tough defense particularly in the paint. Curry’s onslaught in game six made the difference. If the Rockets can hold the Warriors defensively, a hot Harden and Howard could put a number on them.

cnnphilippines.com: NBA Western Conference Finals: The battle between Steph Curry and James Harden

The Warrior’s Center Andrew Bogut isn’t terribly mobile. If he gets in trouble it could force his teammates to help him which may slow their tempo and give the Rockets offense a carrot to grab for. The bench for both sides has a degree of depth to it. With veterans Shaun Livingston and Andre Iguaodala on the bench, the Warriors will have backups for defense.

Pablo Prigioni of Houston is coming off a good last game. Draymond Green is a force and has worked hard to prove that he is one of the leading contributors to the Warriors success. With his scoring and defensive ability, he will give Josh Smith of Houston some challenge. Hopefully he won’t sacrifice his defense of Green in order to try to put more points on the board. It could very well end up being the other way around.

Both of these teams will be moving at a pretty good pace throughout the game which will make for some pretty exciting ball play. Unfortunately their pace could make it a bit difficult in making the spreads that the betting punters out there might be waging on. Be careful how you predict this one. I’m sure this game will be exciting to all viewers and punters in the U.S.

Gerrard Still a 100 Percent Red, But Liverpool Need New Leaders

May 19, 2015 - by Dani
Steven Gerrard new team

Which is Gerrard’s new team?

It looks like Steven Gerrard still considers himself as a hardcore Red, or at least he doesn’t feel that he is too much of a Galactico yet, at least his actions indicated that last weekend. Though, as his very last game comes closer and closer, some members of the team expressed that it is vital for Liverpool, to find a new leader after the department of arguably the best player in club history. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers ask other potential leaders to step up, while Adam Lallana thinks that the whole team should act together, each of them taking more responsibility.

Daily Mail: Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard refuses to sign LA Galaxy shirt until he arrives in MLS

Steven Gerrard might have played his last game at Anfield, but it is obvious that he still considers himself a 100 percent Liverpool player. He is joining Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of the season, but on Saturday he refused to sign the shirt of his future team, gambling news report.
Gerrard will leave Liverpool for Los Angeles after seventeen years, to enjoy a more central role in the last years of his career. However, when a fan offered a Galaxy shirt for him to sign it while on his lap of honour at Anfield, he said, ’I’m not signing it until I’m there’.
Gerrard played more than 700 games for Liverpool and won ten trophies there. Though he failed to win the championship last year which would have crowned his career, he has a Champions League trophy from ten years ago, clearly the highlight of his curriculum vitae.

Though his playing time dropped significantly for this season and on Saturday he played his last game at Anfield for Liverpool, which was a sour one as the Reds suffered a 3-1 defeat against Crystal Palace. Gerrard will play his ultimate game for Liverpool this weekend at Stoke.
Gerrard will be the second high-profile English footballer in Galaxy’s club history after David Beckham, who played in California for five years between 2007 and 2012. Los Angeles is captained by Irish international Robbie Keane, who was Gerrard’s teammate for roughly half a season at Liverpool six years ago.

The Guardian: Adam Lallana calls for leaders to emerge from Steven Gerrard’s shadow

Former Southampton captain Adam Lallana, who signed for Liverpool last summer, thinks every player in the Reds squad have to give more after Steven Gerrard will depart from the team to join the Los Angeles Galaxy. He also talked about his first season, which he considers as a pretty average one.
Lallana was the most expensive player Liverpool bought a year ago, as he cost 25 million pounds. Though the Reds were able to spend 117 million pounds on new acquisitions after Luis Suarez was sold to Barcelona, as many who follow sports scores remember, neither of the newcomers had a brilliant season.
The 27-year-old international had injury problems, but he started last weekend and scored the opener against Crystal Palace at Anfield. However, the visitors spoiled Steven Gerrard’s last home game, and team manager Brendan Rodgers expressed after the match that Liverpool will have to find their new leaders after Gerrard’s exit.

Lallana agreed with this, doubting that a single individual effort would be enough from anyone. He said, “There shouldn’t be any responsibility on anyone to solely fill Steven’s boots. It is going to have to be a contribution from the team. If everyone gives two, three per cent extra then hopefully we can half fill that spot.”
He went on to add, “I’m 27 and I feel that responsibility. I’m a leader and I feel responsible in the group but we have a lot of leaders in the team. We have good team spirit as well. I just hope we can build on this season. There are a lot of ups and downs but plenty of positives to be had. We need to learn from it, take it into next year and definitely build on it.”

Adam Silver’s Stance on Sports Betting

May 13, 2015 - by Frederick H.
Adam Silver NBA Chairman

Silver says “GO!”

Legalized sports betting is a much heated discussion. Sports gambling might be as old as the gambling tradition itself. Leagues have worked to remove sports betting from professional and college sports. Now America is at a crossroads where people can finally discuss, with an open mind, the positive implications of legalized sports betting.

With further developments in interactive sports such as fantasy football, the internet has become a fertile ground for numerous online betting sites. With internet gambling is currently legal in three U.S states, there is much deliberation in court for it to spread. Adam Silver, commissioner of the National Basketball Association, made the latest gambling news news with his remarks about his support for legalized betting in the NBA.

si.com: Adam Silver on sports betting: I view myself as ‘pro transparency’

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is the only sports commissioner in American professional sports to openly support legalized sports betting. “I view myself more as pro transparency and someone who’s a realist in the business. The best way for the league to monitor our integrity is for that betting action to move toward legal betting organizations, where it can be tracked. That’s the pragmatic approach.”

Through Silver’s stance on sports betting, legalization done under regulation could actually improve the quality of betting and monitor the flow of revenue. Silver expressed more about his views to the New York Times that under strict regulations a more national approach should occur. A few months before, Silver told audience members at a sports business college that legalized sports betting is “inevitable.”

Silver also mentioned that states that need the money will push for reform. Last October Chris Christie, governor of cash strapped New Jersey, signed a law removing prohibitions against sports betting in New Jersey. Christie received opposition by all four U.S professional sports leagues and the National College Athletic Association. The plan was thwarted by U.S District Judge Michael Shipp and restrictions remained intact.

Even though all the professional sports teams including the NBA spoke out publicly against Christie, he was asked by Silver to work on expanding sports betting with the NBA by focusing on gaining U.S congressional support and developing a “framework” that would give the opportunity for states to legalize sports gambling according to their own discretion.

espn.go.com: Stern backs Silver’s betting stance

Former commissioner David Stern once said “I can tell you that this is the most serious situation and worst situation that I have ever experienced either as a fan of the NBA, a lawyer for the NBA or a commissioner of the NBA.” This comment was made in light of the Federal investigation into referee Tim Donaghy and his betting on games.

As representatives from all major sports gave their views on this travesty, the NBA was watching the numbers. The league studied the market in Las Vegas, possibly the World’s Mecca for sports gambling, and watched the market grow. Also, the exponential growth fantasy sports sites on the internet couldn’t escape the league’s notice. Sports enthusiasm combined with the public’s viral attachment to social media sites was obvious.

After noticing that NBA fans were helping create large amounts of illegal revenue from offshore betting sites, the league decided to think about things. Their plan was to figure out a way to “get in on the action.” After much research and planning, the NBA presented to America its intent through the spoken opinion of Adam Silver.

Now that the gauntlet has been dropped, Stern, who guarded any support he had, is also backing Silver on his opinions. “The course was set. But it was left for Adam to make a direct statement of where it was going, and I think he did the right thing and I’m very supportive of that.” Stern also expressed that his earlier opinions were more based on fans caring more about teams covering the point scores than winning a game.

espn.go.com: I’m not pro sports gambling. I’m just a realist

Silver has worked in five different positions under former NBA commissioner Stern. In 2006, he was deputy commissioner of the league’s international operations. Being overseas exposed Silver to trends he otherwise never would have seen in the U.S. As he helped grow the NBA brand name, he also saw, first hand, how legalized gambling operated in other countries.

“As we began to stage exhibition games in Europe and China and jurisdictions where sports betting was legal, it caused me to focus more on this than I had historically. Then we began getting approached by sports betting companies outside the United States, where it is legal, to do business with them. As we became more of a global company, I began to think what our policy should be here.”

Silver also began to realize if there is transparency in the system, incidents like the one involving Donaghy could have been avoided. “None of the systems we had in place had captured any betting by Donaghy.” Casinos, lotteries in every state and fantasy sports has made gambling a part of everyday American life. Even people who aren’t betting punters know the spreads on their favorite teams.

One month after Silver took over as NBA commissioner, he sent two attorneys to a mock sport betting trial sponsored by Jeff Ifrah, attorney at iGaming North America. The event, held at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, was entitles “As close as you ever want to get to a federally prosecuted sports betting trial.” At the event Assistant U.S Attorney Harris Fischman examined major U.S gaming laws and staged a mock federal trial.

Monmouth Park is on its Way to Success

May 12, 2015 - by Bori
monmouth park racetrack

Horseracing is money

Monmouth Park is a historical racetrack in New Jersey. After a change of directory the Shore track has seen an increase of revenues. However to continue on the path to success it would be necessary for the gambling regulations in the state to change. The allowance of gambling would not only be beneficial to the horseracing industry but it would increase the tax income of the whole state.

NJ.com: Why Monmouth Park officials believe outlook for N.J. horse racing industry is brighter than ever

Dennis Drazin an advisor of the New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association sees the horseracing of New Jersey as a good investment. Being the official management consultant of the Monmouth Park racetrack he is very much involved in all decisions made. From the order of events on the Opening Day to the season long advertising decisions.

This weekend is the start of the racetrack’s 70th season and it is more popular every day. Drazin told gambling news that Four years after the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority gave its approval for the NJTHA to operate Monmouth Park the track has already brought profit.
“Coming in on heels of having two straight years of better attendance and increased handle, I think we’re going to have a very strong season and I’m looking forward to being able to offer world-class racing at Monmouth Park,” were his words regarding the upcoming season.
Lobbyists are trying harder than ever to bring legal sports betting to racetracks and casinos in New Jersey. However the ruling will be announced at the end of May, the earliest. Drazin said that their goal is to be able to offer real sports betting in time for the football season this year.

NorthJerset.com: Horse racing: Monmouth Park opens Saturday, awaits ruling on sports betting

With 70 years behind its back Monmouth Park is standing strong in a dying business. This weekend’s opening day is just as feared by the owners as it is awaited. Although it seems like nothing could stand in the way of Monmouth Park’s success, in the world of thoroughbred racing there are no shortcuts and it is hard to stay in the game.
This is the fourth season of the racetrack with the New Jersey Horsemen’s Association in charge. As much as the change of directory seems to be guiding the Shore track toward success it gives a good reason to think about the future. The marvelous improvements in just these short few years suggest a great increase in the following years.

A crucial part to embracing the horseracing scene in New Jersey would be to change current gambling laws in the state. The U.S. Court of Appeals is expected to make a decision by the end of June, the latest. The Third Circuit ruling about the future of sports betting in Jersey could be business changing for the whole industry.
While waiting for the decision to be made man Monmouth is improving itself. Their team of trainers was joined by Gerald Bennett who ranks second in the Tampa Bay Downs trainer standings. Joe Bravo who is returning after a season in New York said; “There’s no place like Monmouth.”

USA Today: Monmouth Park close to breaking even fiscally

The positivity of the operators of the New Jersey shore thoroughbred racetrack is very reassuring. According to latest gambling news their expectation for Monmouth Park to either break even or to make a profit is based on the last three years books. Dennis Drazin made it clear at the he track’s season opening news conference that the best years are just ahead of them.

Although gambling is a rising industry the regulations in the state of New Jersey don’t allow it to increase. Raymond Lesniak who had been lobbying for the legislation of gambling said this might be the last push. He expects help from Senate President Steve Sweeney, Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto and Republican Gov. Chris Christie in order for a positive decision to be made this year.
“I hope they understand we are losing hundreds of millions of dollars to other states by not having casinos in north Jersey and that some of those revenues can be reinvested in Atlantic City and our racetracks to keep both of those industries from withering on the vine because that’s what is happening now,” Lesniak said.
He also said that if the bill passed in November it would still take at least two years for casinos to open in the northern side of the state. The reason for such delay is that the legislature would have to write new regulations and prize sites. The encouragement of sports trading clubs and other gambling related activities could help the state to a higher income.

Messi Thinks He Was Lucky Against Bayern

May 12, 2015 - by Mark-Antonio Zivic
Messi-lucky

Luck is one important ingredient…

Barcelona defeated Bayern Munich 3-0 in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals on Wednesday evening with two late goals from Lionel Messi and one from Neymar. This was the first time Pep Guardiola returned to the Camp Nou as the opposition’s head coach since he left Barcelona at the end of the 2011-2012 season. The Catalan manager had plans for his team to deal with Messi, arguably the best player in the world. However his team, though playing confidently against Barcelona, lasted for 75 minutes only.

Goal.com: Messi: Barcelona were lucky
Barca’s magical number ten claimed after the Champions League semifinal the Blaugrana won 3-0 that they needed some luck to succeed against Bayern Munich. Messi played his 100th European game, gambling news reported, and helped his team with two goals in the last period of the match before setting up the third for Neymar well into the injury time.

It was kind of a rude welcome towards former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola, who supervised the most successful era of the Spanish club. However, Messi told the press after the final whistle was blown that the outcome of the game wasn’t that obvious for them before taking the lead, though the scoreline would suggest a confident victory.

“We were lucky to score the first goal,” Messi revealed, then added, “Then the others came after that in quick succession and we have come away with a great result for the second-leg game, which is just what we wanted. Germany will be a tough venue. We have got a great result, but we must now go there and we can’t drop our guard.”

Messi also spoke about the wild celebration that followed his first goal, which was something that is not a common feature from the Argentina captain. “It was just my happiness about what the goal meant. We hadn’t been able to score and it was an important goal in the tie.”

ESPNFC.com: Pep Guardiola – Lionel Messi not only Barcelona player behind Bayern defeat
Bayern’s Spanish manager Pep Guardiola stated that not just Lionel Messi, but rather Barca’s “solid” performance is responsible for the 3-0 defeat that his team suffered in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal. The Argentine scored twice in the last fifteen minutes and then provided an assist for Neymar, according to sports scores news, but Guardiola said, it was not about just one man.

“I will not say what I think of Messi,” Guardiola told the media after the game. “They are not just Leo, Barca are a very good team. They were very solid, in defence and attack. They have great players, Neymar, Luis Suarez. We tried to control the game so that Messi would not participate so much. We were 15 minutes away from a very good result.”

Guardiola appeared for a brief press conference only after the match that saw his team hitting the opposition’s target just once, though he said before the match that scoring an away goal was vital in this fixture. “I am very proud of this team, and these players,” he went on.“I have no reproach for them. Been a very difficult year, I really appreciate what they have done this year.”

Guardiola also talked about the tactical switch to a four-man defence he applied after fifteen minutes. “We knew who we would be playing against, a team arriving in very good form. The best way to defend is to attack, it has worked well for us in the past. We lacked a little bit of incision up front, but I must just congratulate Barca for the win and prepare for Munich.”

Express & Star: Lionel Messi is the world’s best, insists Luis Suarez as Argentine’s performance against Bayern Munich leaves Javier Mascherano lost for words
Javier Mascherano was stunned by the show his fellow Argentine, Lionel Messi performed in the last quarter an hour against Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal. Uruguay ace Luis Suarez simply said that Messi is the best player in the world.
Those who follow live sports results might never forget Messi’s phenomenal second goal, but his first one as well as the assist he gave to Neymar were also very important in securing a comfortable position for Barcelona. With this performance, Messi caused a considerable damage for the side managed by his former mentor, Pep Guardiola.

“He’s a player that is impossible to describe, you have to watch him,” Mascherano praised Messi after the game. He went on to analyze the encounter, saying, “We knew, always in any stadium, they (Bayern) come to press high but sometimes when you press high, you take a risk. We know we have a lot of people in front with quality to make a difference.”
The defender also said that although they are in a very good situation at the moment, they will not think about the reverse leg as a formality at all, online sportsbooks consider them as strong favourites to advance. His Uruguayan teammate, Luis Suarez posted a photo on his Instagram with Messi, writing, “Vamossss! What good win and hard work of the whole team! I leave a picture with the best in the world!”

Caesar in Desperate Fight with Creditors over Bankruptcy

Apr 24, 2015 - by admin
 alt=

Caesars Entertainment has total control over bankruptcy

The operating unit of the bankrupt Caesars Entertainment needs more time to prepare a plan for restructuring the company. Therefore they submitted a plea to extend the period while they possess exclusive bankruptcy control until November, however the company’s creditors intend to prevent that. The noteholders, including the operating unit’s only allies, don’t want to let Caesars’ parent company to acquire protection from any lawsuit over their suspicious property transfers.

Bloomberg BNA:Caesars Creditors Try to Disqualify Kirkland

Kirkland & Ellis had to prepare for a fight in bankruptcy court against a committee that speaks for the junior secured noteholders in restructuring client Caesars Entertainment Operating Co, gambling law news reported recently. The committee tried to eliminate Kirkland, asking a judge to cast the firm off since they represented the Caesars Entertainment’s majority owners, Apollo Global Management LLC and TPG Capital, on unrelated matters.

According to the committee, Kirkland also collected nearly $10 million in fees improperly just before the company’s bankruptcy on the 15th of January. The junior noteholders wanted the bankruptcy to happen in Wilmington, Delaware, while Bankruptcy Judge A. Benjamin Goldgar is in Chicago, where the law firm originates from.

Bankruptcy is not a cheap process at all, and the quarrel over Kirkland’s participation increases the expenses heavily. According to the firm, the first six weeks after Caesars Entertainment filed for Bankruptcy cost them roughly $10 million. With this dispute over Kirkland’s participation, the bill will continue to run up without bringing the matter closer to solution.

Caesars Entertainment was in a restructuring process since years. After the debts and yearly interest fees were reduced significantly, it seemed that a complete reorganization is in reach. However, protesting creditors invented in January, filing for bankruptcy in Delaware.

Casinoscamreport.com: Caesars Wants More Time for Bankruptcy Plan

Caesars Entertainment trying to secure more time for planning, asked the Chicago bankruptcy court for a six month extension to reshape their structure strategy. On the actual conditions, Caesar’s operating division has to submit their recovery plan to the operational department until the 15th of May.

Lawyers representing the gambling giant stated that it is simply impossible to meet that deadline, according to online mobile news. They have 173 separate entities and many legal problems, they are currently fighting with their creditors too, and there is an ongoing investigation for their earlier deals.

The Caesars’s casino department has a debt of $18 million itself, but with the extension granted, the company could abolish the most of it. The possible new deadline would be the 15th of November if the bankruptcy court approves the company’s plea, and the creditors would have time to reply and articulate any disagreements until January.

If the extension is not granted by Judge A. Benjamin Goldgar, Caesar will present their suggestion to the court on the 29th of April and a verdict expected to be made quickly after. Caesars Entertainment’s shares have dropped by 17% after the extension plea was announced. The legal procedure is far from over, but it seems that Caesar prepared for a long war.

Reuters.com: Creditors, Caesars spar over control of casino bankruptcy

Creditors of Caesars Entertainment stated that they intend to block the attempt of the bankrupt company’s operating unit to extend the period during it has total control of the Chapter 11 restructure. They filed oppositions on Wednesday against the operating unit’s plea to push the deadline back with six months to November 15 instead of May 15.

During that time the operating unit has exclusive rights to suggest a strategy to diminish its $18 million debt. The creditors’ goal is to reach a point where other plans can also be submitted. Caesar’s operating unit filed for bankruptcy in January and that it is a rarity that creditors oppose the extension of exclusive control in such an early phase of a case.

Online gambling news reported that the company’s only supporters within the group of noteholders also objected the extension plea. The largest casino operator in the U.S. is in a desperate fight against its creditors, who accused the parent company of separating the operating unit of major properties like Linq Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

The parent company, which is not bankrupt, is controlled by private equity firms Apollo Global Management LLC and TPG Capital Management. The operating unit plans to divide into a casino operator and a real estate investment trust by restructuring. This move would increase the value of the latter, and creditors would benefit from that. However, online betting news learned that by such a move Apollo and TPG would be protected from lawsuits over the property transfers, and the creditors want to prevent that.

Action-Packed Year Expected in 2015 Formula 1 Season

Mar 10, 2015 - by Bence
F1 2015

Formula 1 2015 Adventure is about to begin!

Australian Grand Prix, the first race of the new Formula 1 season, will start next weekend on 15 March, in Melbourne. The new racing year is expected to be very exciting and intriguing with many great sportsmen behind the wheels who already have their fame, and many young pretenders wanting to take over their famous rivals.

The current champion, Lewis Hamilton, is said to be mentally stronger than ever before, and his team mate, last year’s second placed driver Nico Rosberg, is also looking for a way to prove himself better than everyone else. Meanwhile 4-time world champion Sebastian Vettel and 2-time world champion Fernando Alonso are also looking forward to revive their careers with their new teams.

NDTV Sports: Formula One Gearing up for Another Eventful Year of Rivalry

This year’s championship will see less racers and less teams as 24 drivers took part in the tournament in 2014 while only 18 are competing this year. Well, it might be 20 in case of Manor-Marrusia, the team that was built from Marrusia, will succeed to qualify for the requirements.

It is true that there will be less drivers compared to the previous season, however we can expect the same amount of excitement due to the quality of the competitors. Latest gambling news regard Lewis Hamilton as the favorite for winning the title having set the odds at 1.53 (8/15) by Bet365, while those for his teammate Nico Rosberg are set at 3.50 (5/2).

The British, however, has many contenders, such as Sebastian Vettel who will start the new season at Ferrari or Fernando Alonso who left the Reds for McLaren Honda. So Vettel, Hamilton and Alonso are looking to claim their fifth and third championship title respectively but they have many young contenders.

The new season comes with many new names and most of these are incredibly young drivers. Toro Rosso launches young pairing with a combined age of only 37, while 20-year-old Russian Daniil Kvyat will race as teammate of emerging star Daniel Ricciardo at Red Bull. Sauber will also trust the young with their drivers being 22 year-old Brazilian Felipe Nasr and 24 year-old Swedish diver, Marcus Ericsson.

Eurosport: Formula 1 – Lewis Hamilton arrives in Australia in style and ‘stronger than ever’

Lewis Hamilton seemed to be very confident when arriving to Melbourne and stepping out of his red private plane. He tweeted a picture of himself saying „Australia, we are here!“ to which he received mixed responses from his followers.

Online gambling news quoted what he thinks about his mental strength after being asked about the rumours of his berak-up with Nicole Scherzinger. ” I think last year, I adapted… a mental attitude that was kind of, I would like to say, impenetrable In the previous years it has been the case where personal issues have affected my life in general but I feel that I still carry that kind of mentality from last year.“

The Englishman also talked about his wish to achieve even better results than he did during the previous season. “It’s not easy to better a season like last year. In terms of performance, it was the best year that I think I’ve ever had, but it doesn’t mean I can’t beat it so that’s what I’m trying to do.”

Lewis Hamilton also declared that his negotiations with Mercedes about renewing his contract are at the final stage and they are close to reaching an agreement. “Hopefully we’re in the final stages. I don’t really know what the timeline is for that but we’re not rushing. but we’re very much in the last stages of it. So for the foreseeable future, I’m committed to this team.”

NDTV Sports: Mercedes Won’t End Hamilton-Rosberg Rivalry: Wolff

Even though the fact that Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg were already teammates in the previous season, they were each other’s greatest competitors as well. Last year, on the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa the two drivers collided when the German was trying to overcome his partner.

The team has blamed Rosberg who was given an unknown punishment after the incident and he also apologised publicly for his dangerous maneuvers. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff claims that the collision between the two drivers was good for the sport but they had crossed a certain line.

Executive director of Mercedes AMG Petrol also added, “We are not going to change our approach in terms of philosophy on how to let the drivers race. Even if it is not always easy. For us, for our brand, for Formula One, it was important to let them fight, one against the other.”

According to gambling news, Wolff also stated that emotion is very important in sports, and even though the two pilots went over-board, the team found a good solution. He proved his word by saying that his team has won the following 5 races after the accident.

The executive also said that Formula 1 is the number 1 car racing sport in the world so people who work for Formula 1 should stop talking negatively about the game. “We are the number one auto racing sport in the world and we must promote and support this image.”

Haggle with Your Poker Hand at London’s First Pay-By-Poker Kitchen

Feb 02, 2015 - by Frederick H.
Pay-By-Poker Kitchen

Poker in the Kitchen

Poker before a meal definitely sounds like a sweeter alternative to cleaning dishes afterward. The new Hackney pop-up delivers such an alternative. All-In Kitchen, a Haggerston Kitchen, offers the standard three-course GBP 50 dinner. The brilliance comes into play before your meal when you have to try your hand at typical Texas Hold’em which could result in your meal being free. This concept restaurant will instantly draw those who love to eat and gamble. A Jones & Sons stylistic dining that we’ve come to appreciate combined with organized poker arranged by PokerStars has proven to be a winning combination. Andy Jones, founder of A Jones & Sons said “I love food and never shy away from the tables when I get the chance, so having the opportunity to create a menu that combines two of my favourite things was something I jumped at.”

All-Kitchen is one of several peculiar restaurants to emerge in London in the past few months. The opening night was also the official launch of the UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT). The venue has proven popular enough to extend its original three-day run for two extra days.

Time Out London Blog:
Chips with everything at London’s first pay-by-poker restaurant

When you first enter the establishment, you receive chips worth 10,000 points. Three hands of poker is all that is required of you in order to determine the price of your meal. If you can put your expertise to the test and end up with 10,000 points or more, your meal is free. Coming in midway at 5,000 points, gets you half off your meal at 5 GBP. If you’re having an off night and end up with less than 5,000 points, you’ll have to pay full price for your meal.
At a whopping 10 GBP, the hearty full-price meal is still quite a bargain. So whether you’re a closet card shark who wants to reveal to the World your skills or simply looking to have a little pre-meal entertainment, All-In is definitely worth the effort to get into. But you may want to act fast because tickets are currently sold out with more available tomorrow. Fear not though, after London, the pop-up will tour the country promoting the UK and Ireland Poker Tour.

The  Telegraph Poker restaurant: where a full house will pay for your dinner

All-In Kitchen, the World’s first “Pay-By-Poker”, was launched by PokerStars. The restaurant where your hand determines the price of your dinner, was opened in part as a celebration of the beginning of the UK and Ireland Poker Tour. No matter your luck, guests still win the opportunity to choose poker-themed dishes such as the “2 Pair of Pear Tarte Tatin.”

Andy Jones, of Jones & Sons restaurants, said “embracing poker with the dishes was a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see results and serve some Aces.” After the commencement of the UK and Ireland Poker Tour at the Hippodrome Casino London, All-in restaurant will make several appearances throughout UK and Ireland. With every stop there should be an opportunity to take in the “Pay-By-Poker” experience.

Lack of a License, Yet One Lakh to Play, in Ritzy Gurgaon Casino

Jan 12, 2015 - by Phyllis
Illegal Casino India

Indian illegal gambling has been exposed

The laws that cover gambling in India are a bit particular. Most forms of gambling are actually illegal on a federal level. The Public Gambling Act of 1867 clearly states that the running or visiting a public gaming house is punishable by modest fines or prison terms. The states of Goa and Sikkim, however, allow casinos on their territories. However, despite these strict laws, people always find ways to beat the system, as is the case with the illegal gambling rig in upscale Gurgaon that was recently discovered by the police.

The Times Of India: Police unearths illegal Casino in Gurgaon, 43 arrested

Police dismantled an illicit but thriving casino gambling racket, off the gambling blog radar, for the first time ever, in a high class residential colony of DLF phase 2, in Gurgaon. The raid took place between late Saturday night and the wee hours of Sunday morning.

The authorities have begun further investigations and a case under different sections of the IPC and Gambling Act has been registered against the detainees, an official spokesman confirmed on Sunday.
According to reliable sources, a resident of Gurgaon, Naresh Malhotra, was the leader of the gambling rig, renting the bungalow in the colony, and hiring five girls from Kathmandu, in Nepal, to act as card dealers.

In addition to the five girls who were expert casino machine handlers, there were a total of 15 men who were hired as front office men, cashiers and bouncers.

The building’s entrance was constantly under CCTV cameras surveillance, hidden in Malhotra’s office. Only the rich and influential patrons were allowed to enter.

The building housed a reception office on the first floor, a ritzy casino in the basement, and a foreign liquor-selling bar – all illegal. Card playing was also played in an empty piece of land next to building, police reports stated.

A cash counting machine was retrieved from the bungalow, which led police to believe that there was huge cash flow going on. Investigations are ongoing to learn more about how the illegal operations contacted clients, etc., an official source revealed.

NDTV: One Lakh to Play at Biggest Table at Busted Casino Near Delhi

An address kept secret among the influential men of Gurgaon and its surroundings, housed a prosperous illegal casino near Delhi, for a whole 30 thirty days before being busted by the cops. And all one needed to play at the big-stakes tables was a lakh, in real money.

The King Club casino, enticed an exclusive public from its den, in a high-class residential neighborhood of Gurgaon, on the other side of the Haryana border. In the raiding operation, over the weekend, by the local police, 43 people were taken into custody.

Among those arrested were five women who reportedly worked as card dealers in the casino. The casino consisted of a three-story house and a basement.

The police revealed that it found approximately $32, 000 in local cash. It was estimated that one hundred clients a day frequented the underground casino hub.

The King Club’s operator, a man named Naresh Malhotra confessed that he employed fifteen men who served as bouncers and who were told to always be on the lookout for cops.

During his police interrogation, Malhotra also said that no one was allowed to enter the house without his consent.

The raid took place after dawn and a senior police officer Deepak Saharan said that the five women, who were a part of the staff, were card dealers, hired from Kathmandu, in Nepal.

Security cameras, placed in Malhotra’s office, as well as outside, on the premises, were installed to warn of any presence that may disrupt the flourishing, illegal casino.

The police was tipped off by a resident, who remains anonymous, who said he became suspicious when ritzy cars streamed in every night on a piece of land next to where the bungalow-hidden casino stood.

NDTV: Casino busted in posh Gurgaon colony; 43 arrested

Late Saturday night, Gurgaon police busted an illegal casino operation. The operated encouraged illicit betting, among rich and influential patrons, as they played dice, cards and poker, in a house, in L-block of DLF City phase 2, in the city.

After the raid, a total of forty three people were apprehended. Among those arrested, were five women, all staff members, from Nepal. The casino had three floors, with 29 rooms and a basement.

An equivalent of $33,000 from the gambling den operation was seized during the raids. The case was registered at the DLF City Phase-2 police station, accusing the 43 detainees as breaching the gambling and excise acts, on Sunday morning.

The policemen carried out a search in the establishment which yielded a live ‘dice joint’ in full swing, on the ground floor. The 5.6 square meter house had its casino designed by a professional, from Nepal.

The house owner was a Mr. Rajender Yadav. Yadav rented it to one Mr. Naresh Malhotra. Malhotra dabbled in shares and stock market. He had been operating the illegal casino, in breach of the very stringent Indian gambling laws for over a month.

The hallways, akin to high stakes casinos of Nepal and Goa, and poker tables, were housed in the basement. Chic high rollers placed bets, using chips of various denominations ranging from 1000 to 25000.

Ramesh Pal of the ACP (DLF) said they were tipped off by a suspicious resident who said he thought there was a possibility that for the past 30 days a casino was being operated out of a neighboring rented house.

Malhotra had two partners and they were using the building as a guest house too for their patrons. They had hired five women from Kathmandu, Nepal, who had five years’ experience each, in working in casinos.

The entry fee was a mere $1.7 5 (1 lakh) and more than 100 patrons walked through those doors every day, police revealed. Pal also said that the businessman placed bets in Indian currency. When the police arrived on the scene, 6 people were placing bets and 2 staff members played the role of token dealers.

The vacant plot next to the building made it possible for cars to park there. The casino was opened between 10 at night and 5 in the morning. An illegal bar was being tended in the basement and the police confiscated 100 bottles of IMFL.

The police impounded tokens worth over $214,431. 10 Nepalese, in all, had been employed at the gambling den. The businessmen provided them with shelter, food and a salary, Pal continued.

One of the neighbors, Vinod Bansal said that as far as he knew, the building was being used as a guest house prior to recent renovations and a notable amount of people, coming and going. He did say however that there was never any loud music or other nuisances, even if there were cars all night and lots of women.

Deepak Saharan of the DCP (East), praised the police force for their efforts in catching the casino in full action. He proclaimed that although other illegal casinos have been raided in the past, it was never in such an upscale neighborhood. By late Sunday, all 43 persons had been released on bail, by the duty magistrate.

2015 Sees the Launch of Ontario’s First Online Gaming Site Amidst Debate

Jan 09, 2015 - by Phyllis
Ontario Lottery online

Lottery is online in Ontario

There is a lot to be excited about as, in the latest gambling news, Ontario opened up its first online gambling site. This means gambling has never been more accessible to Ontarians, at least in a legal way. Although the company will give over much-needed tax revenues to help the government erase its $12.5 billion deficit, opposition parties beg to differ.

The New Democrats (ND) and Progressive Conservatives (PC) strongly feel that making gambling more accessible carries too many risks. For one, there is no sure way of monitoring under-aged gamblers from going on the online website.

Secondly, the site will prey on fragile gamblers. And last, but certainly not least, the ND and the PC feel that the government is not moving forward, by using a gambling strategy to get rid of its debts and to boost economy. Let us see what all sides have to say, through trusted news media.

Northumberland News: Ontario Launches online Gambling site

Ontario welcomed its first online gaming site, PlayOLG, launched last Thursday, January 8, 2015, by The Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG). OLG disclosed that, in keeping with Canadian gambling laws, the provincial government will be getting further tax revenues, thanks to the site,in addition to the $1.8 billion already being paid.

Relief is probably what was felt when PlayOLG went live, following a series of pre-trial testing. OLG had solicited members of its OLG Rewards program to test the site to see if it was internet-worthy. Gamblers will be able to play the virtual versions of games they would normally play in a casino.

So people can play blackjack, baccarat, single person poker and slots. Lottery tickets for Lotto Max and Lotto6/49 may be bought on the site although not from a mobile device. Mobile applications will be made available to the public, at a later date, when the online site will establish enough new games to do so.

Registration and a weekly maximum bet of $9, 999 are mandatory. However players can also obtain cash directly from bank accounts or credit cards. The expected amount to be deposited by the average gambler is about $75 to $80 weekly. PlayOLG hopes to attract some of the $500 million currently being spent on unregulated online sites in the province.

John Wisternoff, OLG Vice President, exclaimed that the company was thrilled with the milestone launching in Ontario, especially in the company’s move to modernize. Ontario follows in the footsteps of British Columbia, Manitoba, Quebec and all the Atlantic provinces who paved the way in offering online gambling in Canada.

The Progressive Conservatives (PC) were among those who were less than enthused about the launch. The PC harshly criticized the Liberals as searching for “nickels and dimes in the couch cushions, rather than trying to control their spending”. The New Democrats reiterated the view, adding that “the Liberal government’s gambling strategy isn’t progressive and will put vulnerable people at risk”/

Decidedly, in a bid to ease its $12.5 billion deficit by 2017-18, the liberal government may be heading for “social problems down the road from expanded gambling” warns Catherine Fife, also of the PC. She adds that “The research and the evidence points to expanding online gambling leading to increased addiction and increased debt”, said Fife.

Guelph Mercury: Ontario Launches Online Gambling Website

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) pledged to pay out more money to the provincial government when it launched its new online site, PlayOLG. This is a first in Ontario, following in the footsteps of British Columbia, Manitoba and Quebec, who have already established online gambling in Canada.

The site was launched on Thursday, January 8, 2015. Gamblers can now indulge in casino-style games including blackjack, baccarat, poker, roulette and slots online. Players can also buy lottery tickets directly on the new OLG site.

OLG says that as Ontarians currently fork out $500 million a year on illegal online gambling sites they may turn to PlayOLG, as the legal and welcomed alternative. Ontarians will be asked to register to access the new site. Players will have to set obligatory weekly maximums on a weekly basis and may withdraw cash from bank accounts or use credit cards.

The Star: Ontario’s new online gambling website carries risks, says addiction centre

Both victory and downfall is being predicted by a spokesperson from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health with regards to the government’s gambling strategy. This is in reference to the OLG launching of Ontario’s first online gambling site, last Thursday, January 8, 2015.

The Manager of education and community resources at the Problem Gambling Institute of Ontario, CAMH, Robert Murray said of PlayOLG, that the new online site may attract new gamblers who hadn’t dared to venture on to unregulated gaming sites.

Murray feels that since the PlayOLG has been endorsed by the government, under gambling laws, the gamblers will come out in numbers as it seems to offer convenience and a sense of security. This means though, that consequently, it will cause problems and may even lead to bankruptcy and suicide.

In its defense, Ryan Bissonnette, an OLG spokesperson, says gamblers will have $9, 999 limit per week. Only players 18 and up can play if they are an Ontario resident and must play within the province. He added that responsible gambling was key and PlayOLG offers privacy, safety and security.

OLG is keen to get some of the estimated $400 million to $500 million being injected into gambling elsewhere by some 500,000 Ontario gamblers. To get this much more clients and money, they are willing to pledge to hand over an estimated $375 in revenues to the province, over five years.

Ontario has now joined the ranks of British Columbia, Manitoba, Quebec and all of the Atlantic Provinces who already have online gambling sites offering gambling online guides, which feature slots and table games and which also sell lottery tickets.

Toronto Sun: OLG’s online gambling site launches provincewide.

PlayOLG, the first online gambling site, was launched on Thursday, January 8, under government approval. OLG hopes the venture will bring in around S375 million in profits, over the next five years. It declined however to reveal the total revenue projected or how much the private sector operator should expect to be getting.

Play-for-real and Play-for-free games include blackjack and single person poker games like Kitty Glitter were being offered to players. Tony Bitonti, OLG spokesman, revealed that a preview, by invitation only, was extended to 50, 000 loyal customers.

Thanks to the sneak treat and feedback from the mostly pleased 3,500 cutomers, who accepted the invitation, the company was able to carry out improvements on the registration and verification, before the provincewide launch went ahead. A password protection and identity verification were established to prevent underaged players from accessing the site.

The venture however raised a lot of criticism from the Progresseive Conservative party (PC) and the New Democrats party (ND). Vic Fedeli, a MPP of the PC, said that the government only approved the venture so it could get some easy money by preying on the vulberable people who will be taken in by the online site.

In the face of such accusations, OLG retaliated by saying that it has made it mandatory for gamblers to pre-register, and to set up up a $9, 999 deposit on a weekly basis. PlayOLG also offers voluntary controls for time-limit play requests. Under 18s cannot buy lottery tickets either.

OLG is hoping that people in Ontario will move away from the grey area market sites where they are spending between $400 and 500 million a year, and play on the PlayOLG site instead. With an expected revenue of over $375 to be accumulated in the next five years, it is no wonder that OLG boasts of ‘excitement being only a click away’ to lure the over 19 year olds to play online.
